1.  What is WiFi?
WiFi (short for "wireless fidelity") is a term for certain types of wireless local area network (WLAN) that provides wireless connection to Internet.

2.  What is WiFi UKM-JARING?
WiFi UKM-JARING is a wireless broadband Internet service for UKM students and staff within the UKM campus.

3.  Which area does UKM-JARING WiFi cover?
The coverage areas are as follows:

4.  Who is eligible for the service?
All registered UKM students and staff are eligible for the service. Please check your account status eligibility at the main page of the landing page or at http://www.jaring.my/ukm

5.  How do I register?
To register, you will need to go through a self registration process. The printed self registration guide is available at all colleges or you may go to UKM-JARING WiFi landing page for online guide. You MUST register using your personal information.

6.  What is the speed of the UKM-JARING WiFi service?
Each UKM-JARING WiFi user will receive a peak speed of up to 1Mbps (on best effort basis). You will be getting lower speed if you reached the maximum fair usage volume.

7.  What is the maximum fair usage volume ?
The maximum fair usage utilization is 10GB per month. After you have reached maximum fair usage volume of 10 GB, your connection speed will be throttled and reduced at much lower speed. The connection would be returned back to the normal speed of 1MB (best efforts basis) on the 1st of each month.

8.  What is minimum requirement?
Please ensure that your personal computer, laptop, PDA or smart phone are equipped with a built-in WiFi certified device (refer to device manual)and the WiFi button is switched on.
For personal computer and laptop which are not WiFi ready, please ensure that the Wireless Card (PCMCIA) or Wireless USB Adapter has been inserted or connected.

9.  How to connect?
  • Please ensure that your personal computer, laptop, PDA or smart phone are WiFi enabled (refer to device manual).
  • Choose UKM-JARING wireless network.
  • Register at UKM-JARING WiFi login page.
    NOTE: For non-resident users, please purchase the Reload Card before you proceed to the Registration Steps (Reload card can be purchased at Kedai Buku UNIKEB and UMart at Pusanika.
  • Use the Username and Password that you have chosen to start surfing.

10.  What is different between resident student (WiFI UKM Semester package) and non-resident student (WiFi UKM Prepaid) package?
  • The resident package (UKM-JARING WiFi Semester package) is a special arrangement between JARING and UKM and the information can not be revealed.
  • For the non-residentand staff package (UKM-JARING WiFi Prepaid) a nominal subscription fee will be charged.

11.  Is there any other service bundled together when I subscribed UKM-JARING WiFi service?
  • Wi-Fi wireless Broadband.
  • Internet access via dial-up. Dial-up access can not be used concurrently with WiFi services. You need to enable Dial-Up at the WiFi UKM landing page if you need to use Dial-Up. Click at Manage account and Select Enable Dial-Up.

12.  Are there any terms and conditions that apply to your service plans?
Yes, you are required to agree and comply our Terms and Conditions of Service.

13.  Is there a minimum subscription period commitment required?
A term commitment is required for both of our subscription plans. One semester requirement for UKM students or the number of day subscription based on the price option for non-resident UKM students and staff. The price options are as follow:
  • RM13 for 30 days unlimited usage
  • RM20 for 50 days unlimited usage
  • RM50 for130 days unlimited usage.
For non-resident UKM students and staff, please walk-in to Kedai Buku and UMART at bangunan Pusanika to buy reload card for payment.

14.  Can I change or cancel my plan online?
No, you cannot change or cancel the plan online. You may request converting the package online if you have registered prepaid package last semester and opting staying at the college in the new semester. Please go to Manage Account and Choose Convert Package.

15.  What happened to my account if I go on study leave during that semester?
Your WiFi account will be suspended for the semester that you go on study leave and cannot use it till is re-activated. You can request to re-activate after you come back from study leave in the next semester. However, the account will be terminated if you are on study leave for more than 2 semesters.

16.  Can I view my account information without logging in?
Yes, you can access your account information from JARING Self Care. Simply enter your CustomerID or JARING e-mail address and password to access your account information.
You may also check your account status at Check Student Status and Manage Account.

17.  Do you offer dial-up services?
Unlimited Dial-up account is bundled together with UKM-JARING WiFi.service but you cannot use it concurrently with WiFi connection.

18.  Will I be given an e-mail account with UKM-JARING WiFi service?
Yes, UKM-JARING WiFi service comes with an e-mail account for its users.

19.  How to disconnect WiFi or close the WiFi connection?
Click Logout at Pop Up connection display (you need to disable the Pop Up blocker) or type http://ap.logout at URL link.
